Monoline scripts differ from pointed pen scripts in that there are no distinguishable thick and thins of the letters. The style is more simple and does not necessarily require special tools. Typically, this style is created using fountain, felt, or gel pens. For this reason, the economically conscientious bride may choose to have the lettering done using a monoline style. Many pointed pen styles can be replicated using the monoline technique. The result is a script that is beautiful, yet more easily created.
